THE METHOD OF SENSORY INTEGRATION

Sensory Integration (SI) is a neurological process. Specifically, it organizes the sensory information that the person receives from his environment in order to use and adapt it when he engages with the world. The intervention of SI takes place in a specially designed area that supports the sensory experiences, such as providing a rich tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive inflow, while the child gladly participates actively in the intervention. The stimuli provided are constantly monitored by the therapist and adjusted according to the child’s reactions.

Through the theory of SI we aim:

  • at the acquisition of new motor skills
  • at improving gross and fine movement and action
  • at the self-regulation of the child
  • at the child’s greater involvement in activities
  • at social interaction
  • at self-service
